How it works
From a pasted link to a USB stick, in six steps
Crateseek sits between the music you're looking for and the booth: it finds the best copy on Soulseek, checks it, analyses it, and packages it the way your DJ software expects.
- Step 1
Type a song or paste a link
Enter a song name — fuzzy spelling is fine — or paste a track link from Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, SoundCloud, Tidal or Bandcamp. No account on any of those is needed for a public link.
- Step 2
Crateseek resolves the track and searches Soulseek
First it works out which recording you mean: artist, title, duration. Then it searches the Soulseek network through its own always-on node, so there is no client to install and no port to forward.
Candidates are ranked FLAC first and 320 kbps MP3 second, with free upload slots and fast peers preferred. You see one best answer with the alternatives a click away.
- Step 3
It verifies the recording
A filename is not proof. Every candidate is checked against the resolved track’s title and duration, and where a fingerprint match exists an AcoustID check confirms the recording itself. Radio edits, wrong remixes and mislabelled files fall out here.
- Duration match
- Title match
- AcoustID fingerprint (optional)
- Step 4
Save it — analysed and filed
Save, and the file downloads to your cloud library. On arrival it is analysed for BPM, musical key (shown in Camelot and Open Key), integrated loudness and a waveform, and filed into a genre folder. Sort and filter by any of them.
Files are content-addressed: a track ten DJs save is stored once, and the node shares it back on Soulseek. You can also upload your own FLAC, WAV, AIFF, MP3 and M4A files and they go through the same analysis.
- Step 5
Build a set
Create a set, drag tracks in from the library and reorder them with drag and drop. Need something you don’t have yet? Search from inside the set and the download lands in it. In early access you can also connect Spotify and pull playlists or Liked Songs into sets.
- Step 6
Export to USB
Plug in a stick and pick it in Chrome or Edge; Crateseek writes the files directly. Other browsers download a zip with the same layout. Every export has a folder per set with M3U8 playlists, Serato crates that Serato DJ picks up instantly, and a rekordbox.xml you import in rekordbox and then export to CDJ-ready USB. Engine OS players browse the folders and analyse on load.
Per-target steps and the supported-formats table are on the USB export page.
What you need
- A modern browser
- Everything runs in the browser. Writing directly to a USB stick needs Chrome or Edge on desktop; everyone else gets a zip.
- No Soulseek account
- Crateseek searches and shares through its own node.
- No DJ software — until export
- rekordbox is only needed if you want CDJ waveforms and grids; Serato and Engine OS read the stick as is.
- The right to the music
- Download what you're entitled to use and buy the records you play.

Try it with the track you've been hunting for.
Paste the link. If the network has a lossless copy, you'll have it in your library with BPM and key in a couple of minutes.
Free during early access. No card required.
