crateseek

Free during early access

Find and download lossless music for your DJ sets.

Type a song or paste a link. Crateseek finds the best copy on Soulseek — FLAC first — checks it’s the right recording, and files it with BPM and key. Then export to a USB that CDJs, Serato and Engine just read.

No Soulseek client. No port forwarding. No share folder to babysit.

Exports for

  • Serato DJ
  • rekordbox
  • CDJ / XDJ
  • Engine OS
  • Traktor (M3U8)

Find

Soulseek for DJs, without the client

Paste a Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, SoundCloud, Tidal or Bandcamp link — or just type a name. Crateseek works out which recording you mean, searches the Soulseek network for the highest-quality copy and shows you one answer, not two hundred filenames.

  • FLAC first, then 320 kbps — ranked by quality, not by whoever replied first
  • Duration and title checks on every candidate; optional AcoustID fingerprint
  • One always-on node that shares everything back, so you're never a leecher

Library

A library with a BPM and key analyzer built in

Save a track and it downloads to your cloud library already analysed: BPM, musical key in Camelot and Open Key, a genre folder, integrated loudness and a waveform. Sort and filter by any of them, upload your own files, and see the format of every copy at a glance.

  • Sort by BPM, key, genre or length; automatic genre folders
  • Upload FLAC, WAV, AIFF, MP3 and M4A — analysed the same way
  • One shared copy of each file across all users, stored once
BPM, Camelot keys and harmonic mixing

Sets

Build the set, search from inside it

Create, rename, reorder and delete sets. Drag tracks from the library, or search from inside a set and the file downloads straight into it. Connect Spotify in early access to pull playlists and Liked Songs into sets.

  • Drag-and-drop ordering
  • Search inside a set — results land in that set
  • Spotify playlists and Liked Songs (early access, limited to invited users)

Player

Listen before you commit

Stream any track in the browser with a scrub-able waveform, and keep BPM, key and loudness in view while you decide where it goes.

USB export

Export a set or your whole library to USB, straight from the browser

Plug in a stick, pick it in Chrome or Edge and Crateseek writes the files directly. Other browsers get a zip with the same layout. Every export includes a folder per set with M3U8 playlists, Serato crates that Serato DJ picks up instantly, and a rekordbox.xml you import in rekordbox and then export to CDJ-ready USB. Engine OS players browse the folders and analyse on load.

  • Serato DJ

Crates in _Serato_/Subcrates. Plug in; they appear.

  • rekordbox / CDJ

Import rekordbox.xml, then Export to USB for waveforms and grids.

  • Engine OS

Browse Music/<Set> on the player; analysed on load.

How it’s built

Fast to use, fair to the network

One copy, shared back

Files are content-addressed, so a track that ten DJs save is stored once. The node shares everything back on Soulseek, which is what keeps the network alive.

Verified, not guessed

Every candidate is checked against the resolved track’s title and duration, with an optional AcoustID fingerprint. You see what matched and why.

Yours to take anywhere

Export a set or the entire library with playlists, crates and tags in the files. No lock-in — the stick works without Crateseek.

Crateseek is a tool for organising music you have the right to use — your purchases, promos and releases licensed for sharing. Crateseek is not affiliated with Soulseek, Spotify, AlphaTheta/Pioneer DJ, Serato or Denon DJ; product names are the trademarks of their owners.

Questions, answered

Is Crateseek free?
Yes. Crateseek is free during early access and there are no paid plans yet. If that changes, you'll hear it from us clearly and in advance.
Do I need a Soulseek account or client?
No. Crateseek searches through its own always-on Soulseek node and shares everything it downloads back to the network, so there's no client to install, no port to forward and no share folder to maintain. Read Soulseek for DJs if you want the background.
What can I paste into the search box?
A song name (fuzzy is fine) or a track link from Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, SoundCloud, Tidal or Bandcamp. Crateseek resolves which recording you mean before it searches.
How does it know it found the right file?
Results are ranked FLAC first, then 320 kbps, and each candidate is checked against the resolved track's title and duration. Where a fingerprint match exists, an AcoustID check confirms the recording itself.
Which DJ software and players does export cover?
Serato DJ (crates it picks up instantly), rekordbox and CDJs (a rekordbox.xml you import, then export with rekordbox), Engine OS players (they browse the folders and analyse on load) and anything that reads M3U8, such as Traktor and VirtualDJ. Chrome and Edge write straight to the stick; other browsers get a zip. Details on the USB export page.
Can I connect Spotify?
In early access, yes: see your playlists and Liked Songs and pull them into sets. Spotify's developer rules limit this to a small number of invited users while an app is in development mode, so it is offered as early access rather than promised to everyone.
Is this legal?
Crateseek is a tool. Only download music you have the right to use — your purchases, promos, releases licensed for sharing — and buy the records you play. Rights holders can reach us through the takedown process in our terms.
